CCED incorporates Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as well as Intensive Outpatient Treatment and Meal Support, into its Eating Disorder Treatments. We encourage you to speak with our Trusted Specialist.
At CCED, we have developed an innovative treatment model that incorporates Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT Therapy), which focuses on the effective management of behaviors and emotions, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT Therapy), considered the backbone of any effective eating disorder treatment, which provides a non-judgmental accepting framework that teaches skills while aiding in change.
Psychiatric care is an integral part of treatment, and is provided on a weekly basis. All adult clients will be required to be medically monitored either by a physician of their choice, or one of our allied physicians who specializes in Adult Eating Disorders.
Day Treatment Programming (DTP):
The Adult DTP meets 3-5 days per week, 6 hours per day. All clients will start DTP at 5 days per week, and days will be tapered down as treatment progresses and the client meets therapeutic goals towards recovery.
Day Treatment Format
During the DTP, clients will eat 2 meals and a snack daily in this supportive group environment. Clients provide all their own meals, but meet 1-2 times weekly with our staff dietitian who provides meal plans specific to individual client needs.
Clients participate in CBT and DBT therapy skills groups, peer support groups, art therapy, mindful movement/Yoga, and goal setting groups throughout the week. Clients will meet 1-2 times weekly with an individual counselor who will help facilitate the recovery process. Clients are encouraged to include family members, spouses, or other significant individuals in their treatment process as CCED believes that social support is essential to the recovery process.
Comprehensive Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP):
Our Comprehensive Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to provide an intermediate level of care. This level of care will be most appropriate for new clients who do not meet clinical guidelines for DTP, yet require the extra support services of our staff psychiatrist, dietitian, and individual counselors, or for clients who have successfully transitioned out of the DTP program.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment
Intensive Outpatient Treatment will occur for 1-3 days per week, 3 hours per day. The focus is on an introduction to emotional regulation through DBT therapy skills, and meal support of 1 meal per treatment day.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP):
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a comprehensive treatment modality designed to help individuals gain control over their emotions, self-destructive behaviors, and quality of life. The treatment is based on an emotion-regulation model, which views impulsive and self-destructive behaviors (e.g., binge eating, purging, self-injury, etc.) as the result of an inability to regulate and manage intense emotion. DBT blends cognitive behavioral approaches with meditative practices and acceptance-based strategies. In its standard form, DBT consists of weekly individual DBT therapy, a skills training group, and telephone skills coaching.
DBT IOP Format
The DBT IOP is offered five days per week – three hours per day. Your DBT treatment team will work with you to determine the optimal number of days to attend programming. The DBT-IOP is structured to help clients normalize eating, gain support around meal times, reduce life-threatening and self-destructive behaviors, explore and increase motivation toward treatment goals, and teach a range of skills to help decrease symptoms and improve quality of life.
This track is designed for clients who meet one or more of the following:
*Have not responded adequately to standard eating disorder treatments
*Are multi-diagnostic (e.g, co-occurring Borderline Personality Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, etc.)
*Clients, for whom, emotion regulation problems seem to be at the core of their difficulties
*Have been unable to generalize skills outside of standard treatment
*Who present with significant therapy interfering behavior(s)
Meal Support:
CCED offers current clients the opportunity to eat meals with a clinical staff member. This may be helpful for clients who are in need of additional support at meal time. Meal times will be 1-1.5 hours depending on client needs. Contact Us for additional details.
Our treatment program is lead by Lucene Wisniewski, PhD and Mark Warren, MD. If you have any further comments/questions or wish to schedule an appointment, feel free to Contact Us.
