The Cleveland Center for Eating Disorders provides evidence based therapy for the treatment of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa in our Adolescent Day Treatment Program. We encourage you to speak with our Trusted Specialist.
Our children and teenage Day Treatment Program (DTP) is based on Maudsley Family Based Therapy, and is our most intensive outpatient evidence based therapy for adolescents suffering from an eating disorder. Patients meet five days each week, up to six hours a day, for a total of 30 hours.
Throughout the week, children and teens attend scheduled group therapy sessions, have their weights and vitals (blood pressure and pulse) monitored and eat meals and/or snacks daily in a supportive group environment. Patients are encouraged to include family members or other significant individuals during their treatment program.
In addition, we offer a once-a-week Maudsley support group for parents only. We bring together family therapists, adolescent nutritionists and Dr. Mark Warren to educate and support parents going through the Maudsley Method.
Our adolescent DTP group therapy sessions each week may include:
- Skills groups to teachchildren and teens the necessary skills for coping and emotion regulation.
- Discussion groups to help adolescents discover healthy ways to manage their environments.
- Nutritional support to help children and teens understand healthy eating and proportions.
- Support groups on building confidence and self-reflection.
- Relaxation groups to help children and teens get in touch with their body and mind.
