The Cleveland Center for Eating Disorders incorporates the Maudsley Method to treat children and teens suffering from an eating disorder. We encourage you to speak with our Trusted Specialist.
In its purest form, Maudsley Family Based Therapy empowers parents as the leaders of a child’s treatment team. At CCED, we support the family and their adolescent in their journey to recovery through our weekly Maudsley support groups. Maudsley Family Based Therapy may be used by itself or in combination with our other adolescent treatment programs.
Maudsley Method Support Programs
The Maudsley Method has been shown to be the most effective treatment in literature. Parents take an active role in planning, providing and supervising all meals and snacks. At CCED, we provide guidance and support for families undergoing Maudsley Family Based Therapy through our weekly support groups, including:
- Maudsley FBT support group: Led by one of our Maudsely Family Based Therapy specialists, we focus on supporting parents implementation of Maudsley and the psycho-education of eating disorders.
- Parent supports group: Led by a rotation of our medical director, Dr. Mark Warren, adolescent nutritionists and Maudsley therapists, we focus on further supporting parents on implementing Maudsely, as well as nutrition, medication and medical complications.
